Terms of Use
Updated · May 2026
Welcome to the website of the Law Office of J.M. Chema Garza ("the firm"). By accessing or using this site you agree to the terms below, which form an agreement between you and the firm regarding your use of the site. If you do not agree with any part of these terms, please do not use the site.
Eligibility
The site is intended for users 18 years of age or older. If you are under 18, you may only use the site with a parent or legal guardian's permission, and they will be deemed to accept these terms on your behalf.
Acceptable use
You agree to use the site only for lawful purposes. You may not scrape or harvest content in bulk, attempt to disrupt, overload, or interfere with the site's operation, or impersonate another person or the firm itself when submitting communications through the forms.
Informational website, not legal advice
The content on this site is for general informational purposes only and reflects the firm's views as of the date of publication. The practice-area pages, blog articles, case descriptions, and downloadable resources do not constitute legal advice for your particular situation and should not be treated as such. Every case is different and the law changes; for advice on a specific matter, contact the firm and enter into a written engagement agreement.
No attorney-client relationship
Visiting the site, submitting a form, calling, leaving a voicemail, or sending email or a WhatsApp message does not create an attorney-client relationship with the firm. That relationship is formed only after the firm has conducted a conflicts check, expressly agrees to represent you, and a written engagement agreement has been signed.
Texas attorney advertising disclosure
This website constitutes attorney advertising under the Texas Disciplinary Rules of Professional Conduct 7.01-7.05. The firm's principal office is located in Rio Grande City, Texas, and J.M. Chema Garza is the attorney responsible for the content of this site. The choice of a lawyer is an important decision and should not be based solely on advertisements or promotional materials.
Past results
Any reference to prior outcomes is illustrative and is not a promise, guarantee, or prediction of future results. Every matter is resolved on its own facts, evidence, and applicable law, and outcomes vary based on the circumstances of each case.
Forms, communications, and storage
The site's forms are not transmitted or stored with end-to-end encryption. Please do not include sensitive personal information, government identification numbers, financial data, or confidential documents in messages you send through the site. The firm may retain the information you submit as described in the Privacy Notice.
Intellectual property
The firm name, logo, text, photographs, and site design belong to the firm or are used under license and are protected by applicable copyright and intellectual-property laws. You may view and print content for personal, non-commercial use. Any other reproduction, distribution, modification, or use requires prior written permission.
Trademarks
The Law Office of J.M. Chema Garza name and mark identify the firm. References to third-party trademarks, products, or services are the property of their respective owners and are used solely for identification, without implying affiliation or endorsement.
User content
When you submit information to us through a form, email, or WhatsApp message, you grant the firm a limited license to receive, store, and act on that information to the extent necessary to respond to your inquiry and operate the firm. You represent that you have the right to share the content you submit.
Links to external sites
The site may contain links to external resources, such as courts, bar associations, or publications. The firm does not control those sites and is not responsible for their content, accuracy, availability, or privacy practices.
Third-party services
Links to Google Maps and WhatsApp on the site direct you to services operated by third parties. Your use of those services is governed by their own terms and privacy policies, which apply to activity you conduct within them.
Privacy
The handling of personal information you provide is described in the firm's Privacy Notice, which is incorporated into these terms by reference.
Disclaimer of warranties
The site is provided on an "as is" and "as available" basis, without warranties of any kind, express or implied. To the fullest extent permitted by law, the firm expressly disclaims the warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, accuracy, and non-infringement.
Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, the firm shall not be liable for any indirect, consequential, special, exemplary, or punitive damages arising out of your use of the site or reliance on its content, even if it has been advised of the possibility of such damages. This limitation applies regardless of the legal theory on which a claim is based.
Indemnification
You agree to indemnify and hold the firm harmless from any claims, damages, costs, or expenses (including reasonable attorneys' fees) arising out of your misuse of the site or your breach of these terms.
Modifications to these terms
The firm may update these terms at any time. The date of the latest update appears at the top of this page, and your continued use of the site after changes are posted constitutes your acceptance of the updated terms.
Termination
The firm reserves the right to restrict or terminate your access to the site at its discretion, particularly in cases of misuse, unlawful activity, or breach of these terms.
Severability and entire agreement
If any provision of these terms is found invalid or unenforceable, the remaining provisions will remain in full force and effect. These terms, together with the Privacy Notice, constitute the entire agreement between you and the firm regarding your use of the site.
Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Texas, without regard to its conflict-of-law provisions. The exclusive forum for any dispute arising out of or relating to these terms is the state courts located in Starr County, Texas, or the United States District Court for the Southern District of Texas (S.D. Tex.).
Dispute resolution
Before initiating any formal proceeding, you agree to attempt in good faith to resolve any dispute informally by first contacting the firm and allowing a reasonable period of time to respond and pursue a resolution.
Bar complaints
Visitors and clients who believe the firm's professional conduct warrants review may contact the State Bar of Texas through https://www.texasbar.com/. This avenue is independent of the dispute-resolution process described above.
