Summer Law Clerk - 2026
Location: Rio Grande City Office
Type: Internship
Posted: January 15, 2026
Closes: May 1, 2026
About the role
A summer law-clerk position for a current 1L or 2L interested in bilingual, full-service practice in South Texas. The clerkship is designed to give a real picture of what running a small Valley law office actually looks like, not a sanitized summer-program version.
You will research and draft across all four of the firm’s practice areas (personal injury, criminal defense, family law, immigration), attend court with the attorney in Starr, Hidalgo, and the McAllen and Brownsville federal divisions, observe client intake calls, and contribute to suppression motions, demand letters, and immigration filings. The clerkship runs eight to ten weeks during the summer, full-time, in-office in Rio Grande City.
Compensation is a stipend, plus paid travel for federal-court attendance. Housing assistance is available for non-local clerks.
Requirements
Currently enrolled in an ABA-accredited law school as a 1L or 2L.
Strong written and oral Spanish skills; first-generation Valley applicants are particularly encouraged to apply.
Submit a résumé, a writing sample (5-10 pages, any subject), an unofficial transcript, and a short cover letter describing why South Texas legal work interests you.
